Our Approach

When your child enrolls in West End Tutors, he or she will receive a comprehensive assessment during the first tutoring session.  This assessment will be used to drive the instruction during the upcoming tutoring lessons.  The assessment will cover the five key components of reading instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.  Word study skills will also be addressed. After the assessment is completed, the parent can expect to receive a detailed report of his or her child’s current strengths and weaknesses and a summary of how those strengths and weaknesses will be addressed.
